Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Cowie.
The 44-year-old man was loading items into a car outside a local shop in Mount Oliphant Drive when he was attacked by a masked man and struck on the head with a weapon shortly before 9pm.
The suspect ran off in the direction of Kyle Avenue. A second man was witnessed acting suspiciously in the same immediate vicinity and made off in the same direction after the assault took place.
The victim was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary and required stitches to his injury.
Inspector Catriona Paton said: “This was a violent attack on a member of the public and we are carrying out extensive inquiries to trace those responsible. The injury sustained by the victim could have been far more serious as a weapon was used during the assault.
“Community and CID officers are appealing to anyone who might have seen these individuals in the area of Mount Oliphant Drive, Cowie, on Thursday afternoon through to the time of the assault. One suspect was involved directly in the assault but we are keen to trace a second man who appeared to be associated with the attacker.”
Anyone with information should contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456 000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
