Menstrie / alva
The villages of Alva and Menstrie sit at the bottom of the Ochil Hills and are disected by the main A91 Stirling to St. Andrews road. Both villages have their own primary schools which are feeders to the main secondery school of Alva Academy. Alva, by its history of involvement in the textile trade, forms part of the historical Mill Trail, which is a major visitor attraction for tourists to the area. Menstrie lies at the foot of Dumyat, the largest of the Ochil Hills range and is a favourite starting point for hillwalkers of all abilities. It is presently undergoing large residential expansion and is developing into a commuter area for Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
