Crime Management

Crime Management Services is led by Detective Supt. Cameron Cavin and is split into three sections:

  • Crime Operations
  • Public Protection
  • Intelligence, Information and Interventions

In keeping with Force policy to devolve matters to a local level, the daily control of criminal investigations are the responsibility of the area commanders at Stirling/Clacks and Falkirk. This allows for a corporate approach to be taken at a local level in pursuit of the Force and area command objectives in relation to crime prevention, detection and other community safety matters.

Detective Chief Inspector Willie Cravens is deputy head of Crime Operations and is based at police headquarters. He provides strategic direction to the CID staff based within the area commands.

Depending on availability he also performs the role of Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) or provides support to other SIOs during the investigation of serious crime inquiries.

In the event of serious crime inquiries, detectives are drawn from all crime management sections to come together to form an inquiry team under the command of an appointed SIO.

Detective Chief Inspector Gordon Dawson is responsible for Intelligence, Information and Interventions and is also based at police headquarters.

Public Protection is the responsibility of Detective Chief Inspector Brian Johnston.
