Strategic Development
The Chief Constable commissioned a comprehensive strategic review of the Force and its activities to examine the capacity of the Force's existing senior management and departmental structures to deliver the priorities and service aims identified in the business plan.
The main outcome was the identification of a need to group business functions logically, in a fashion which placed maximum emphasis on operational policing, whilst providing an effective and robust support structure. The desire to achieve a corporate and cohesive approach to the delivery of policing services, and to anticipate and manage change, led to the introduction of the Strategic Development Department headed by Superintendent David Flynn.
The main aims of the department are to predict and plan for change and to manage the increasing demands from external sources; and to provide corporate, co-ordinated and focussed strategic direction.
Strategic Planning, PSQ, Technical Services, Communications Workshop, and Firearms Licensing all sit under the umbrella of Strategic Development.
